NIBONG TEBAL, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Sungai Bakap Hospital (HSB) is seeking public assistance to trace the family members or next of kin of a man who died on Aug 10 after receiving treatment at the hospital since May.
HSB, in a statement today, said that M. Balakrishnan, 29, died at 6.53 pm on Aug 10 in Ward 3 due to severe sepsis with multi-organ failure, and that his body had since been placed at the hospital’s Forensic Medicine Unit.
“The deceased, who was homeless, was transferred from Bukit Mertajam Hospital to HSB on May 27 pending placement at a care centre managed by the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
“No relatives, next of kin or acquaintances came to visit the patient during his stay at the hospital, a and no further information regarding his relatives could be obtained. Efforts to trace his next of kin were also conducted through the National Registration Department (JPN), which identified their last known address as No. 19, Jalan Sungai Buloh, Taman Segar, Kampung Baru Subang, Selangor,” the statement said.
The statement said police checks revealed that the premises were occupied by a Malay family who had no knowledge of Balakrishnan or his family.
Members of the public who have information on Balakrishnan’s family or next of kin are urged to come forward and assist the hospital in matters concerning his remains.
