HYDERABAD, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Pakistan's Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered former prime minister Imran Khan to be transferred from jail to a private hospital for medical treatment amid health concerns.
The 73-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has been incarcerated since August 2023 and is currently being held at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi amid a string of cases against him, including corruption-related convictions.
Media reports said Imran had recently complained of palpitations, headaches, restlessness and stress.
A three-judge bench directed the jail authorities to move Imran to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad, a private medical facility, ABN News television channel reported.
Imran was ousted in a parliamentary no-confidence vote in April 2022 and has since faced numerous court cases.
The Supreme Court also sought details of the ongoing cases and convictions against Imran, according to a report on the Dunya TV website.
