KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Transportation and logistics, telecommunication and media as well as energy sectors have attracted a combined net inflow of RM158.4 million into Bursa Malaysia last week, according to MBSB Investment Bank Bhd (MBSB IB).
Transportation and logistics recorded a net flow of RM103.8 million, telecommunication and media RM34.9 million, while energy recorded RM19.7 million.
MBSB IB, in its weekly Fund Flow Report for the week ended Aug 14, 2026, said foreign institutions extended its consecutive second week of net selling, with RM623.6 million in net outflows.
“The highest outflows were recorded on Friday (RM181.3 million), followed by Tuesday (RM171.4 million), Thursday (RM125.9 million), Wednesday (RM92.2 million) and Monday (RM52.8 million).
“The top three sectors that recorded net foreign outflows were financial services (RM469.3 million), industrial products and services (RM121.2 million) as well as consumer products and services (RM89.6 million),” it said.
It noted that retailers ended two consecutive weeks of net selling, recording RM268.1 million in net inflows while local institutions extended its consecutive third week of net buying, with RM355.5 million in net inflows.
“The average daily trading volume saw a broad-based decrease; retailers were down by 1.1 per cent, local institutions by 10.9 per cent, and foreign institutions by 3.7 per cent,” it said.
