KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- The reform struggle must be translated into results that can be seen and felt by the people, said Prime Minister's Senior Political Advisor Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
He said that although various initiatives have been implemented by the MADANI Government, much more effort is needed to ensure their benefits are enjoyed by all strata of society.
"Good numbers must be followed by spillover effects felt by all citizens. The nation's economy grew by six percent, outperforming all forecasts, but we must ensure the people reap the benefits," he said via a Facebook post today.
According to him, the debate sessions at the 2026 PKR National Congress in Melaka today were generally in line with the tone and core message of PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's policy speech.
The congress, themed "Reviving Reform, Building MADANI", is taking place for two days starting today at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), Ayer Keroh.
Tengku Zafrul said communication efforts also need to be enhanced so that the people are aware of the various initiatives and achievements of the MADANI Government.
"The list of initiatives and achievements of the MADANI Government shared by the President earlier is long, but our communication work must also be intensified so that the people know about them. If the people do not know, that is not the people's fault. That is our own delivery shortcoming," he said.
He said among the matters mentioned by Anwar were the abolition of the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU), efforts to rehabilitate critical public institutions such as the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), as well as several economic initiatives in the upcoming Budget.
According to him, these matters demonstrate that the MADANI Government, particularly PKR, recognises that the struggle and efforts for the people are still far from over.
"I am confident that with this approach, coupled with improved working mechanisms and party solidarity -God willing, we will be able to win the people's trust to continue implementing fresh agendas for the sake of the people," he said.
He said PKR's strength depends on the party's readiness to listen better and strengthen its machinery to ensure the reform struggle delivers tangible results to the people.
