MELAKA, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- A total of 3,210 food and beverage premises nationwide have registered as Menu RAHMAH operators as of July this year, says Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.
She said the encouraging response showed that more food operators were willing to work with the government to help ease the people’s cost-of-living burden.
The highest participation, she said, was recorded among food stall or food court operators, with 1,016 registrations, besides restaurants, hawkers, food trucks and bazaars.
“Menu RAHMAH is not merely a temporary programme, but part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the people’s cost of living remains a priority,” she said in a statement here tonight.
Fuziah said focus was also given to areas with high demand from the public, including Rest and Service Areas (R&R).
She said the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) would continue to strengthen the promotion of Menu RAHMAH through the ‘Jom Cari Menu RAHMAH’ programme, besides working with more industry players, traders’ associations and food operators to expand the menu options to more locations.
Meanwhile, she said the MADANI RAHMAH Sales Programme (PJRM) had also been expanded to ensure daily necessities at lower prices could be brought closer to more people.
She said as of July 2026, PJRM had been implemented 19,322 times, exceeding this year’s target of 17,500 implementations, with 25,486,997 transactions recorded nationwide.
“The programme offers savings of between 10 and 30 per cent compared with local market prices and involves various essential items such as chicken, fish, eggs, cooking oil, flour, rice, vegetables, fruits and household necessities,” she said.
Fuziah said PJRM was implemented across 600 state constituencies and 40 zones in the Federal Territories, with a focus on areas that truly need the facility.
Meanwhile, she said the KPDN Mini Carnival at the Melaka level, which began yesterday and ends tomorrow, had brought together various government initiatives, including exhibitions, advisory services, business matching, Menu RAHMAH and PJRM.
She said the programme also offered reasonably priced sales by 27 traders, as well as various stage activities, competitions and an electronic sports (E-Sports) tournament in collaboration with Todak.
“The programme received an encouraging response, with nearly 3,000 visitors recorded yesterday, and the number is expected to continue increasing today and on the final day of the programme tomorrow,” she said.
