SEPANG, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Preparations for the 2026 National Day celebration are now 80 per cent complete, said Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah.
He said preparations were underway at various levels and designated locations, while ministry personnel would be on the ground during the final week before the celebration.
“ Preparations have now reached 80 per cent. We pray for favourable weather and that all assets will be ready,” he told Bernama and RTM after attending the 2026 Day of the Indigenous Peoples celebration at Kampung Kelinsing, the Communications Ministry’s Kampung Angkat MADANI, here today.
Abdul Halim said the handover of the celebration venue would take place on Aug 21 in coordination with the Putrajaya Corporation.
On corporate sector involvement, he said the government had so far received RM48.63 million in sponsorship for the 2026 National Day celebration.
“This reflects the commitment of the corporate sector and companies to making the 2026 National Day celebration a success,” he said.
Abdul Halim said this year’s celebration would feature several new elements but declined to disclose further details.
He invited the public to attend the full-dress rehearsal of the celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on Aug 29.
