KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Sarawak remains the only state in the country to record unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 4 pm today, with nine areas in the state affected.
According to data from the Malaysia Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, the areas were Samarahan (163), Kuching (163), Serian District Police Headquarters (162), Bintulu (156), Sarikei (155), Sibu (152), Sri Aman (152), Mukah (137) and Samalaju (125).
Forty-six areas nationwide recorded moderate API readings, while 13 areas recorded good readings.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are classified as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
