Sabah Records 20.5 Pct Rise In Singaporean Tourist Arrivals – Ewon

SINGAPORE, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Sabah recorded a remarkable 20.5 per cent increase in arrivals of Singaporean tourists in the first five months of this year, said Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick.

He said a total of 12,544 Singaporean tourists visited Sabah from January to May this year, reflecting positive momentum and the effectiveness of collaborative promotional efforts to attract visitors from the republic.

“Our bond with Singapore continues to strengthen year on year, and this is wonderfully reflected in our tourism figures.

“Through the relentless efforts by the Sabah Trade and Tourism Singapore Office (STTOS) and our tourism partners in continuously promoting and creating awareness among the Singaporean audience, we have seen inspiring growth,” he said during the launch of Experience Sabah 2.0 at Marina Square on Saturday.

Also present was Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin.

Meanhwile, Anizan Siti Hajjar emphasised that STTOS’ ongoing efforts were instrumental in showcasing Sabah’s vibrant business community to the international market, especially to neighbouring countries such as Singapore.

“Platforms such as this give local creators, artisans, and small businesses a wonderful, highly visible stage to share their unique stories and exceptional products with residents and visitors alike here in Singapore,” she said.

Themed “Explore. Connect. Thrive.”, the three-day event, held from Friday to Sunday, showcased businesses from across Sabah's diverse ecosystem, ranging from food and beverage, retail, lifestyle, agriculture, wellness and tourism sectors.
