KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced MADANI Tickets exclusively for MyKad holders, priced from as low as RM200, enabling Malaysians to watch the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Formula 1 race live at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
He said the initiative followed the government's consideration several weeks ago to offer MADANI Tickets for the Formula 1 race scheduled to take place in October.
"Alhamdulillah, following discussions and a mutual agreement with Bahrain, the government is pleased to announce MADANI Tickets exclusively for MyKad holders at prices starting from RM200, providing access throughout the three-day event," he said in a Facebook post today.
Anwar said the initiative was hoped to give more Malaysians the opportunity to experience watching Formula 1 live at Sepang.
"Further details will be announced by SIC soon, insyaAllah," he said.
Formula 1 and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) previously announced that the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix would be held at SIC from Oct 2 to 4, through cooperation between Malaysia and Bahrain.
The Bahrain GP was originally scheduled to be held at the Bahrain International Circuit in April but was postponed to October following geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
SIC hosted the Malaysian GP from 1999 to 2017 before the race was dropped from the F1 calendar due to rising hosting costs and licensing fees.
