KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and 2006 FIFA World Cup winner Alessandro Del Piero are among the football greats confirmed for the AllStar Legends friendly at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil here, on Oct 3.
AllStar Sports Sdn Bhd in a statement said that the match organised in collaboration with World Football Legends (WFL) will feature two teams - AllStar Premier League Legends and AllStar World Legends.
Joining Gerrard in the AllStar Premier League Legends side are Ballon d'Or winner Michael Owen, former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs, Eidur Gudjohnsen and John Arne Riise.
The AllStar World Legends lineup includes Del Piero, former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam, Javier Saviola, Fernando Morientes and former Brazil goalkeeper Dida.
More players will be announced closer to the match date, according to the statement.
Tickets are priced from RM62 to RM1,998 and are available via Ticket2U, with the VIP package including a meet-and-greet and autograph session with the football legends.
The event, themed “Rise Above All” aims to bring together football fans across generations through the appearance of some of the sport’s most recognisable former players.
The event is also supported by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
