FatHopes Energy-PVOIL To Set Up Vietnam’s Used Cooking Oil Ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- FatHopes Energy Sdn Bhd has entered into a strategic partnership with PetroVietnam Oil (PVOIL) to establish Vietnam’s first nationwide used cooking oil collection ecosystem, marking a milestone for Southeast Asia’s clean energy transition.

FatHopes Energy is a Malaysian pioneer in traceable waste-based feedstock solutions for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

In a statement today, FatHopes Energy said the two organisations will establish an integrated ecosystem capable of collecting, tracing and managing used cooking oil across Vietnam.

The partnership lays the foundation for a new circular economy that transforms used cooking oil from households, restaurants, industrial kitchens, seafood processing plants and similar sources into certified renewable feedstock for SAF and other advanced biofuels, the statement said.

“The collaboration is expected to accelerate Vietnam’s transition towards cleaner energy,” the statement said.

“The partnership combines FatHopes Energy’s expertise in used cooking oil collection operations, digital traceability technologies and global feedstock supply chain development with PVOIL’s operational network, comprising about 1,000 petrol stations (which will be used as collection points for used cooking oil) as part of a nationwide collection system,” it said.

The initiative will commence with an initial rollout in Ho Chi Minh City before expanding progressively across the country.

The partnership is expected to facilitate the aggregation of more than 200,000 tonnes of feedstock annually in Vietnam for export to FatHopes Energy’s upcoming refinery in Malaysia, the company’s public relations officer said.
