Five Penang Areas Identified For Whitening The Blackspot Initiative

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Five blackspot areas in Penang have been identified as the focus of the 2026 Penang Police Contingent Whitening The Blackspot United For Safety Crime Prevention Initiative.

State police chief Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng said the initiative takes an integrated approach to tackling security, crime, social, infrastructure and environmental issues in the identified areas.

“The initiative adopts a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach that brings together the police, government agencies, local authorities, elected representatives, communities, non-governmental organisations, the private sector and strategic partners in a coordinated effort.

“It is hoped that the approach will result in more structured, effective and sustainable strategic measures to create a safe, clean, orderly and conducive environment in line with the aspirations of ‘United For Safety’,” he said in a post on the Penang Police Contingent Facebook page today.

He said this during an engagement session on the initiative at Dewan Yayasan Aman in Kubang Semang near here today.

The engagement session provided departments, agencies and strategic partners with an avenue to share views and proposals based on their respective areas of expertise and authority, particularly on action plan coordination, intervention projects, resource needs and collaborative efforts.

Also present at the engagement session were Bagan Dalam assemblyman K. Kumaran, representatives of state assemblymen, heads of government departments and agencies, representatives of local authorities, senior police officers, strategic partners and chairmen of Rukun Tetangga Areas.
