MOSCOW, Aug 11 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- At least 883 people have sought medical assistance in the Colombian city of Cali after the earthquake, the city's Health Secretary German Escobar said on Tuesday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"At the moment, 883 injured people are being treated in the hospital network," Escobar said on X.
At the same time, three medical facilities had to close down due to the damage to infrastructure, Escobar said, adding that right now all hospitals in Cali are operating almost at their maximum capacity.
The 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck on Monday morning. Its epicentre was located near the municipality of San Jose del Palmar in the Choco department. The tremors were felt across much of Colombia, as well as in neighbouring countries. The death toll has reached 132 people.
