PUTRAJAYA, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is set to bring together more than 1,000 policymakers, industry leaders and maritime sector players from around the world for Malaysia Maritime Week 2026 (MMW2026), further strengthening the country’s position as a key maritime and logistics hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) said the event, scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Sept 28 to Oct 2, is being organised through a strategic partnership with Malaysia International Shipping Corp (MISC) and the Malaysia Shipowners’ Association (MASA).
Themed “From Ambition to Action: Powering Maritime Excellence”, MMW2026 will serve as a platform to discuss the future of the global maritime industry, with key issues including decarbonisation, energy transition, supply chain security, digitalisation and maritime talent development.
“The event also strengthens Malaysia’s role in the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) agenda, while enhancing the country’s visibility as a progressive maritime nation and a regional logistics hub,” the statement read.
MOT said the five-day event will feature various programmes, including a Strategic Roundtable Forum, Leadership Dialogue, maritime financing sessions, four conference tracks, the ALAM Maritime Open Day, the Malaysia Maritime Icon Award and an industry exhibition expected to feature up to 80 booths by government agencies as well as local and international industry players.
The ministry said this year’s edition is expected to be the most comprehensive since Malaysia Maritime Week was introduced in 2014, combining the main conference at KLCC with satellite programmes to broaden participation among government agencies, industry players, financial institutions, academia and the next generation of maritime professionals.
According to MOT, the event is also expected to stimulate new investments, accelerate the industry’s decarbonisation and digitalisation agendas, strengthen human capital development and deepen Malaysia’s strategic cooperation with international maritime partners.
