NAGANO (Japan), Aug 10 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- Local police in the central Japan prefecture of Nagano said Sunday that a temporary bridge had been set up to allow the 390 or so people temporarily stranded at a resort by a landslide the previous night to leave the premises, Kyodo News reported.
No injuries related to the landslide, which cut off the only road leading to the Nakabusa Onsen hot spring mountain resort in Azumino, have been reported.
The hot spring area is also a popular trailhead, and those stranded included hotel guests as well as hikers staying at a mountain hut, police said Sunday.
According to the prefectural government, the landslide damaged one of the bridges on the road connecting the hot spring retreat and central areas of Azumino.
Azumino observed heavy rain with 50 millimeters of rainfall in a single hour Saturday night, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
