Fathers Among MAF Personnel Must Continue To Be Empowered - Dr Wan Azizah

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Fathers among Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel must continue to be empowered in view of their responsibilities and sacrifices for the country, said Prime Minister’s wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament said such efforts must be accompanied by support, such as the National Family Compassion Policy (DKKN), which could help them fulfil their responsibilities as fathers, particularly when their duties require them to be away from their children and families.

Dr Wan Azizah said support for men was also important to strengthen the family institution, while raising awareness of the role of fathers as one of the main pillars of a family.

“We also want fathers to be supported in strengthening and realising the importance of their role as leaders in the family,” she told reporters after officiating the 2026 Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Father’s Day Celebration with MAF personnel here today.

The programme, themed ‘Sehebat KASIH Bapa’, organised by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the MAF, brought together about 500 guests and participants comprising fathers, spouses and children of MAF personnel, as well as representatives from government agencies.

The programme was aimed at appreciating the role and sacrifices of fathers, particularly MAF personnel who at times have to be away from their families while carrying out their responsibility of defending the country’s sovereignty.

Among LPPKN’s initiatives to strengthen support for fathers are the Fatherhood Module, which focuses on parenting skills, and the Men Empowerment Network (MEN).
