MANILA, Aug 7 (Bernama-PNA) -- A magnitude 5.4 earthquake jolted Occidental Mindoro on Friday, Philippines News Agency (PNA) reported, citing the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Initially recorded as magnitude 5.8, the tectonic quake struck 13 kilometres (km) southwest of Mamburao at about 10.38 am, with a depth of 14 km.
Intensity V (strong shaking) was felt in Mamburao in Occidental Mindoro; and the City of Calapan, Naujan, Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, and Victoria in Oriental Mindoro.
Intensity IV (moderately strong shaking) was reported in Taal, Batangas; and Abra De Ilog and Sablayan in Occidental Mindoro.
Intensity III (weak to moderate shaking) was felt in Quezon City; Batangas City; City of General Trias, Cavite; City of San Pedro, Laguna; and Intensity II in Parañaque City; Santa Cruz, Laguna; and Guinayangan, Quezon.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are possible, but damage is not expected from the earthquake.
