Perodua Cuts Axia Prices, Passes Operational Savings To Customers

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has reduced the price of its Axia model, Malaysia's most affordable compact car model, by up to RM4,700, effective immediately. 

In a statement today, the national automotive company said the revision reflects continued improvements in the company's operational efficiency and reaffirms its commitment to passing tangible value on to its customers amid current economic conditions. 

The new Axia prices in Peninsular Malaysia are RM33,900 for the 1.0G (down RM4,700 from RM38,600), RM38,500 for the 1.0X (down RM1,500 from RM40,000), RM43,000 for the 1.0SE (down RM1,000 from RM44,000) and RM49,000 for the 1.0AV (down RM500 from RM49,500).

In East Malaysia, the Axia 1.0G is now priced at RM35,900 (down RM4,700 from RM40,600), the 1.0X at RM40,500 (down RM1,500 from RM42,000), the 1.0SE at RM45,000 (down RM1,000 from RM46,000) and the 1.0AV at RM51,000 (down RM500 from RM51,500).

The revised prices exclude insurance, it said.

“This price revision forms part of our ongoing efforts to ease the cost pressures currently faced by Malaysians,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

He said the new pricing also reflects the company's ongoing efforts to further improve its operational effectiveness, which has similarly translated into reduced service costs and revised pricing for the QV-E and Battery as a Service (BaaS) offerings.

All specifications and quality standards for the Axia remain unchanged, with the cost savings derived entirely from process improvements and operational efficiencies. 

“The revised pricing is the outcome of sustained, continuous improvement initiatives undertaken in close collaboration with our local suppliers and partners within the automotive ecosystem,” said Zainal Abidin.

As Malaysia's most affordable car, the Axia has long served as a dependable mode of transport for Malaysians. 

The company said the price adjustment reaffirms Perodua's commitment to ensuring continued accessibility of the model to a broader base of consumers nationwide.   

“We thank them (vendors and dealers) for extending their full cooperation in enhancing cost efficiency for the collective benefit of the industry and, by extension, all Malaysians,” Zainal Abidin added.
