KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 (Bernama) -- Global cloud- and carrier-neutral data centre platform Digital Realty has announced its establishment in Malaysia and plans to develop and scale approximately 32 megawatts (MW) of data centre capacity to support the country’s growing digital infrastructure needs.

Its managing director and head of Asia Pacific, Serene Nah, said the US-based company’s presence in Malaysia marks a key milestone in its Asia Pacific expansion, integrating Malaysia into a global platform designed for interconnection, resilience and scale.

“We are establishing a multi-site (data centre) campus in Cyberjaya, namely KUL10, formerly TelcoHub 1, one of Malaysia’s most highly connected data centres and carrier dense, while KUL11, located 500 meters away, is a purpose-built 15 MW facility designed to support artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing workloads.

“Digital Realty also foresee a future expansion (data centre) site that will add another 14 MW, which is targeted for completion in mid-2028. We’re also looking for other sites to expand,” she said in her speech during the Digital Realty Multi-Site Data Centre launch, here today.

The launch was officiated by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

Nah said that together, the assets will form a highly connected platform, supported by more than 40 network service providers, alongside a robust ecosystem of cloud and connectivity partners.

Furthermore, she said the developments will establish the foundation of Digital Realty’s growing platform in Malaysia, enabling enterprises, including cloud and digital businesses, to deploy and scale infrastructure within a globally connected data community.

Nah said that by integrating its Cyberjaya facilities into the company’s PlatformDIGITAL global data centre platform and enabling interconnection through the ServiceFabric suite of solutions, Digital Realty will support distributed, AI and data-intensive workloads requiring low-latency, high-performance connectivity across markets.

“Customers in Malaysia can gradually connect to Digital Realty’s global ecosystem of more than 300 data centres across 30-plus countries, enabling low-latency connectivity and seamless workload deployment across key regional hubs, including Singapore and Jakarta,” she added.
