GAZA CITY, Palestine, May 28 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Hamas’ military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, announced Wednesday that its chief, Mohammed Awda, was killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza City, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
The Al-Qassam Brigades said Awda was killed on Tuesday, along with his wife and two sons, in an Israeli strike targeting a residential building.
*The armed wing added that he was appointed chief of staff of the Al-Qassam Brigades, succeeding Izz al-Din al-Haddad.
Hamas, in an earlier statement, described Awda as a “senior Qassam commander” and said he belonged to the “first generation that laid the foundation for armed and militant resistance operations.”
