5.7-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Japan's Nara Prefecture: JMA

TOKYO, May 2 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.7 struck Nara Prefecture in western Japan on Saturday, the country's weather agency said, reported Xinhua.

No immediate injuries or damage have been reported.

The temblor occurred at 6.28 pm local time in Nara Prefecture at a depth of 70 kilometres, measuring 4 on Japan's seismic scale of 7 in some areas in Nara, Mie and Wakayama prefectures, said the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The quake's epicentre was located at a latitude of 34.1 degrees north and a longitude of 135.6 degrees east.

No tsunami warning was issued, according to the JMA.
