KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is utilising RM90 million in development charge funds to address traffic congestion in the capital through the implementation of three high-impact infrastructure projects.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the initiative under the ‘Projek Trafik Lancar’ is being carried out at critical locations in the Segambut, Seputeh and Wangsa Maju parliamentary constituencies, identified based on current traffic flow analysis and projected vehicle growth.
In Segambut, she said the project involves the construction of a road and tunnel from Jalan Kiara 7 to the SPRINT Highway (Penchala Link), while in Seputeh it involves upgrading the exit ramp from the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) to the KL-Seremban Highway.
Hannah said that in Wangsa Maju, the project involves upgrading the intersection of Jalan 7/24 and the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) in Wangsa Melawati.
“These projects focus on resolving major bottlenecks that affect the daily movement of city residents,” she said in a Facebook post today.
Hannah said the new approach in managing development charges demonstrates DBKL’s commitment to ensuring that every new development directly contributes to the well-being of the surrounding community, particularly in terms of road networks, drainage systems, public facilities and traffic dispersal.
“All three projects reflect DBKL’s new approach of channelling development gains back to the people through infrastructure investments that address the city’s real challenges.
“DBKL is committed to ensuring that infrastructure develops in tandem with urban growth to meet the needs of the people,” she said.
Hannah added that DBKL will ensure close monitoring throughout the project period to guarantee that progress remains on schedule and that the quality of work is maintained.
