IPOH, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has allocated RM20 million to Ipoh City Council (MBI) to carry out resurfacing works on 400 roads in the city’s residential areas.
Minister Nga Kor Ming said the special approval was granted by the Ministry of Finance following KPKT’s success in enhancing the community’s quality of life through initiatives such as the MADANI Recreational Parks, which have now been established at over 200 locations nationwide.
“I have asked the Ipoh Mayor (Zamakhshari Hanipah) to ensure that a cost-benefit analysis is carried out when appointing contractors.
“The job (contract) will be awarded to those offering the most attractive proposal with the best quality of work. The resurfacing of these 400 roads is expected to commence soon and be fully completed by Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he told a press conference after a working visit to Pasar Canning here today.
Nga added that KPKT would ensure each project was implemented to a high standard so that the benefits could be felt directly by the public, while also ensuring that roads in residential areas were safe to use.
He said the ministry estimated that resurfacing a single road in a residential area would cost around RM50,000.
