TNB Introduces Two Senior Leadership Roles To Enhance Governance

22/12/2025 12:16 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has appointed Mahathir Nor Ismail as senior chief network officer (SCNO) and Datuk Muhammad Nazri Pazil as senior chief strategy and sustainability officer (SCSSO), effective Jan 1, 2026, following the creation of the two senior leadership roles.

The roles would provide clear focus, strengthen accountability and reinforce the separation between strategic direction and operational execution.

In a statement today, it said the refined leadership and corporate structure are part of its continued commitment to strong governance, effective business delivery, sustained performance and long-term organisational resilience in an increasingly complex energy landscape.

“The leadership refinement reflects TNB’s disciplined approach to governance and succession planning, ensuring the organisation remains future-ready, well-led and supported by a strong pipeline of leadership talent to deliver its national responsibilities sustainably.

“It enables the president/chief executive officer to provide clear overall leadership and stewardship, while empowering senior leaders with well-defined responsibilities to drive performance, transformation and long-term value creation,” it said.

Under the new structure, TNB said the SNCO will oversee the majority of execution and delivery responsibilities, providing clear ownership of operational performance, network reliability and system resilience.

This ensures a strong focus on the core mandate of delivering safe, reliable and resilient electricity supply for the nation.

“Meanwhile, the SCSO consolidates strategy, sustainability and long-term planning functions under a single leadership umbrella.

“This strengthens strategic coherence, enhances stakeholder communication and ensures sustainability considerations are fully embedded into TNB’s long-term decision-making and business direction,” said TNB.

In addition, TNB is reinforcing good governance practices, improving coordination across the organisation and strengthening alignment between long-term planning and day-to-day operations.

“The structure also supports a more robust succession management process by developing deep leadership capability and ensuring continuity at critical leadership levels,” it added.
