TEHRAN, Dec 11 (Bernama-IRNA) -- Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan on Wednesday for a state visit at the invitation of his Kazakh counterpart, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.
After an official welcome ceremony by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the two presidents are scheduled to hold bilateral talks, followed by a joint meeting of high-level delegations to review key areas of cooperation and discuss ways to expand ties.
Both leaders will later attend a ceremony where cooperation documents will be signed and will then brief reporters on the outcome of their discussions.
During his stay, Pezeshkian will also visit Kazakhstan’s medical university, deliver a speech, and take part in a joint business forum involving traders and entrepreneurs from both countries.
The president will leave Kazakhstan for Turkmenistan on the second leg of his trip to Central Asia.
Pezeshkian has been invited by Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to attend the World Peace and Trust Forum in Ashgabat.
