BANGKOK, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian equestrian polo team claimed the bronze medal at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 after defeating the Philippines 7-3.5 in the 2-4 Goals bronze medal playoff at the VS Sports Club & Siam Polo Park in Samut Prakan today.
The national squad comprised the Tengku Arif Bendahara of Pahang, Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Muhammad Shahir Akmal Mohd Shah, Abdul Rashid Hasnan, Muhammad Edham Haji Shaharuddin, Azfar Mustapha, Mohd Zulhelmi Nadzar and Amran Selamat.
Meanwhile, Thailand confirmed the gold medal after outplaying Brunei 7.5-0 in the final.
Malaysia’s hopes of striking gold were dashed after they fell to Brunei in the semi-finals, on Monday.
Malaysia last topped the podium in equestrian polo at the 2019 Philippines SEA Games when they defeated the host nation in the final.
The national camp will now shift its focus to the 4-6 Goals competition scheduled to begin this Saturday.
