MTDC Positions Malaysian Aerospace Players On The Global Stage At ASKL 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) reinforced its role as the nation’s deep-tech enabler with the opening of Aeromart Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASKL) 2025 at the MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC).

As Strategic Investment Partner to the summit, MTDC is using the platform to connect Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and technology companies directly with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier-1 suppliers and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) leaders in one of Southeast Asia’s most important aerospace business conventions.

MTDC chairman Tan Sri Abd Rahman Mamat said that the summit marks a step-change in how Malaysia positions itself in global aerospace supply chains, moving from passive participation to strategic contribution.

“Malaysia has built real capabilities in aerostructures, digital engineering, MRO and precision machining.

“The task now is to scale those capabilities, plug more of our SMEs into global programmes, and close the remaining gaps in certification, productivity and technology adoption,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, its chief executive officer, Mohammad Hazani Hassan, said the blend of financing, business-matching and technical support reflects MTDC’s mandate to drive deep technology adoption across strategic sectors, not just aerospace.

He added that when a Malaysian SME upgrades its machining capability for aerospace, that same capability can serve electric vehicle components, rail systems or advanced energy equipment.

“We are deliberately using aerospace as a test bed to lift our overall industrial base and our deep-tech readiness,” he said.

Looking ahead, MTDC said it will focus on three fronts in aerospace and next-generation mobility, such as building industrial capability, strengthening supplier readiness, and future-proofing human capital.  

ASKL 2025 is Southeast Asia’s key aerospace business convention, combining exhibition, tailored business-to-business (B2B) meetings, and summit sessions focused on aerospace and MRO. The event takes place from Dec 10 to 11, 2025, at the MECC.
