LAOS

1. OVER THREE MILLION TOURISTS VISIT LAOS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Laos attracted 3.7 million foreign tourists in the first 10 months of this year, with more visitors from Thailand, Vietnam and China. Tourism is buoyed by the high-speed railway connecting China.

 

2. INTEGRATED COMMERCIAL PROJECT TAKES OFF -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Construction of the RM198 million (US$48 million) Haiwan International Community, an integrated development project in Vientiane, began on Monday. The first phase, which involves the construction of a 13-storey apartment, will be completed in June 2026. 

 

MYANMAR

1. FLOWERS BLOOM IN PYIN OO LWIN TOWN -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

More than 200,000 flowering plants are being displayed at the 18th “Immersive Flowers Festival” at the National Kandawgyi Gardens in Pyin Oo Lwin town. The event will be held until January in the garden established in 1924. 

 

2. NEW INVESTMENTS TO CREATE MORE JOBS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The Myanmar Investment Commission approved 14 new investment projects mainly in electric motorcycles, automobile assembly, education, food processing and garment sectors. Investments amounting to RM235 million (US$57 million) will create about 4,000 jobs. 

 

PHILIPPINES

1. PBBM FLAGS PHP16 BLN FUNDS OF CONSTRUCTION FIRM LINKED TO ERIC YAP -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has flagged more than PHP16 billion in transactions made by a construction firm involved in alleged anomalous flood control projects and tied to Benguet Rep. Eric Yap.

 

2. SHEAR LINE, 'AMIHAN' BRING RAINS OVER LUZON -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

The shear line and northeast monsoon or "amihan" will bring rains in northern and central Luzon on Tuesday.

Fourteen South Korean and three Chinese suspects linked to a major transnational call centre syndicate operated by South Koreans, who fled neighbouring countries to set up offices in Bangkok condominiums, have been arrested.
