KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- Kolej UNIKOP, an institute of higher learning (IPT) owned by Koperasi Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Berhad, plays an important role in developing a relevant and industry-driven curriculum, said Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

He said that as an institution dedicated to enforcement-related education, the college bears the responsibility of producing individuals of integrity and calibre - a generation whose minds are cultivated, character strengthened and prepared to serve the community, the nation and the country.

Speaking at the opening of the Kolej UNIKOP 5th Convocation Ceremony at the PDRM College in Cheras today, he urged graduates to harness the knowledge and skills gained throughout their studies as valuable tools to navigate future challenges and avoid potential pitfalls.

“I also pray that the graduates will continue to uphold integrity, remain competitive, and contribute to the security, well-being and progress of our beloved country,” he said.

A total of 1,005 graduates received their scrolls at the two-day convocation ceremony, which began today. The second session, scheduled for tomorrow, will be officiated by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

Mohd Khalid also expressed his aspiration to develop the college into an institution of international standing.

“I believe that with continued support, collaboration and commitment, UNIKOP College will grow into a respected institution capable of producing highly motivated individuals who will contribute to the nation’s future success,” he said.

The ceremony also saw Diploma in Investigation Services graduate Julia Qistina Haiqal Mohd Hafiz receiving the IGP Award, which came with a cash prize of RM1,000 and a gold coin.

In addition, 10 graduates from various fields received the Best Student Award, each taking home RM200 in cash and a silver bar.

This fifth edition of the convocation reflects the college’s continued progress in delivering quality education and producing competitive graduates who meet current industry needs.

Also present were Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director and chairman of Koperasi PDRM Berhad, Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim; Kolej UNIKOP chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abd Majid; and Kuala Lumpur PDRM College commandant, DCP Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang.
