KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- A strong 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck off the west coast of Northern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 12.56 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
It said the quake’s epicentre was located at 2.7° north and 95.9° east, at a depth of 57 kilometres.
“Tremors were felt around the west coast states of Peninsular Malaysia,” it said in a statement.
MetMalaysia added that the quake does not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia.
