KOTA KINABALU, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- The early voter turnout for the 17th Sabah state election today is at 92.5 per cent, or 17,615 voters.
Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said early voters consisted of armed forces personnel and their spouses, as well as police personnel, including those in the General Operations Force (GOF) and spouses who qualify as early voters in the state election.
Early voting began at 8 am at 58 voting stations throughout Sabah and closed at 5 pm, with 8,347 armed forces personnel and spouses, along with 10,696 police personnel and spouses qualified to vote.
“The EC congratulates all returning officers and their teams for having done their duties well today,” he said in a statement today.
He also thanked the Sabah state secretary’s office, the Sabah federation secretary’s office, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, media practitioners and those directly and indirectly involved for their cooperation and support to the EC.
Sabah voters will cast their ballots on Nov 29.
