PANZHIHUA (Sichuan, China), Nov 17 (Bernama) -- China’s railway products manufacturer has praised the high standards of Malaysia’s welding industry, saying that the level of expertise eliminates the need for the company to deploy its own technical team when exporting its rails to Malaysia.

Deputy station chief of rail & beam plant Pangang Group Steel Vanadium & Titanium Co Ltd, LV Panfeng, said Pangang Group has been exporting rails to Malaysia monthly for the past 10 years.

“Normally, when we send our exports, our technical team will go to the particular country, but for Malaysia, the local people are very good at welding,” he told Bernama during a visit by the Asia Pacific journalists to Pangang Group recently.

Pangang Group, the world’s largest vanadium producer, merged with Ansteel Group Corp Ltd in 2010.

Malaysia is listed as one of Pangang Group’s international business footprints on a map displayed at the group’s plant.

During his briefing to Asia Pacific journalists, he said Pangang Group is involved in several projects in Asia, including the China-Laos railway and Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train under the Belt and Road Initiative. Its other project in Asia is Sri Lanka’s rail.

Pangang Group is open to more collaboration in ASEAN and Asian countries to expand its international market, Panfeng said.

The plant’s product, known as Panzhihua Brand Rails, is used in China’s high-speed and heavy-haul railways, including in plateau and winter areas such as the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

The plant produces a full range of rail products, including those for high-speed rail, heavy haul applications, switches and crane rails and exports its products to 38 countries worldwide.
