Women Civil Servants Reflect Leadership With Integrity, Empathy - Nancy

KUCHING, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Effective leadership in the civil service not only depends on effeciency and knowledge, but also human values such as integrity, empathy and team spirit that are often shown by women civil servants while performing daily tasks.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said her ministry is committed to empower women leadership not only at the workplace but also in society through various development programmes, including the Perantis, Gig@BIT, and Kirana programmes under the Women’s Development Department, to harness its great potential.

“The Perantis programme, for instance, is a leadership guidance platform that aims to nurture women in the fields of economics, politics and technology,” she said in her speech at the close of MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak Amazing Race 2025 here today, adding that programme participants had the chance to learn from women leaders to build confidence to lead and have a positive impact on their respective communities and organisations.

She also asked women civil servants, especially in Sarawak, to take the opportunity to join the Perantis programme to build up their leadership skills.

“We started the pioneer project last year with an allocation of RM5 million, but only one participant from Sarawak was involved. I hope that this year we can add another four more participants from the state so that more Sarawak women will benefit,” she said.

Nancy expressed hope that with the programme, women civil servants would be given room to develop not only for self-improvement, but also to strengthen a more effective, inclusive and caring civil service.
