KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia showcased its cultural diversity and culinary diplomacy in Paris through Couleurs de Malaisie (Colours of Malaysia), an exhibition celebrating the nation’s vibrant lifestyle, arts and traditions, held at the Grand Mosque of Paris.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to France, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, said the three-day event –organised by the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris in collaboration with the Grand Mosque of Paris – featured a lively display of Malaysian culture, including batik ‘canting’, food demonstrations, trade and investment promotion, tourism showcases, and stalls offering authentic Malaysian cuisine.
“An estimated 380 visitors attended the inauguration and exhibition on the first day alone,” he told Bernama.
In his opening remarks on Friday, Eldeen said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during his official visit to Paris in July this year, had expressed a clear vision to strengthen ties between Malaysia and France through culture, faith and shared values.
“This event is a reflection of that vision – a bridge between Malaysia and France built on mutual respect, appreciation and understanding,” he said.
Eldeen added that Malaysia is a nation of rich diversity, where Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous communities coexist harmoniously.
He noted that while Islam is the official religion of Malaysia, one can find a mosque, a church, a temple and a gurdwara standing side by side – a testament to the nation’s spirit of tolerance and unity.
“Through this exhibition, we hope to share a glimpse of that spirit with you here in France,” he said.
With Visit Malaysia Year 2026 set to begin in a few months, Eldeen invited guests to explore Malaysia’s hidden gems, cultural wonders and warm hospitality.
He said the recent resumption of daily direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Paris by Malaysia Airlines has further strengthened travel links between the two nations.
“Malaysia Truly Asia is not merely a tagline but the embodiment of Malaysia’s unique diversity, summing up the distinctiveness and allure that make it an exceptional destination for both business and leisure.
“There is really only one place where all the colours, flavours, sounds and sights of Asia come together – Malaysia!,” he said.
Eldeen said the collaboration with the Grand Mosque of Paris was especially significant, noting that both the Embassy and the Mosque share a commitment to fostering intercultural dialogue and celebrating the beauty of faith through art, cuisine and community.
“We are deeply grateful for your partnership and hospitality in hosting us in this sacred and historic space,” he said.
Also present were Rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris Chems-Eddine Mohamed Hafiz, representatives from Malaysian agencies based in Paris and members of the local community.
