MARA Aims For Three Bumiputera Companies To Be Listed On Bursa Malaysia Next Year – Rubiah

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) aims to have three Bumiputera companies listed on Bursa Malaysia next year, said Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang.

She said this was in line with the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) initiative, which, among other things, seeks to identify and strengthen high-potential Bumiputera companies for market expansion and to enhance competitiveness at the global level.

"We sealed it in PuTERA 35, where our target is also to increase the number of our entrepreneurs listed on Bursa Malaysia, and that is included in the MARA Strategic Plan 2026-2030.

"We have strengthened PuTERA 35 — this is the first step we are taking by identifying the companies  — but we have higher expectations than that," she said after officiating the MARA Automotive Ecosystem 2025 (MATEC2025) here today.

Rubiah said that for the time being, Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd is set to be listed on Bursa Malaysia, which demonstrates the growing skills and capabilities of entrepreneurs in the local automotive sector.

She said MARA will continue its efforts to boost Bumiputera participation and leadership in the field so that more successful entrepreneurs can be produced.

Meanwhile, she noted that the MATEC event will return for its third series next year, following the success of of this year’s initiative.

"This will continue next year in an even grander form or theme, and we encourage participation because we promote collaboration between non-Bumiputera and Bumiputera companies in organising MATEC.

"... Perhaps in the next series, we will involve more non-Bumiputera companies alongside Bumiputera companies in MATEC," she said.

She said MARA has also proven that Bumiputeras are not merely consumers but also catalysts for the transformation of an industry worth RM80 billion annually.

Rubiah added that with new investments such as the BYD electric vehicle (EV) factory in Tanjung Malim, and the participation of over 2,000 Bumiputera automotive entrepreneurs now active in the country's automotive industry value chain, this further demonstrates that Malaysia is moving forward with confidence and identity.

With the theme "Charge the Hype," MATEC 2025, which took place from Oct 31 until today, aimed to attract 104,100 visitors and feature 200 exhibition booths.

To strengthen the talent and business supply chain, six strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Memoranda of Agreements (MoAs) were signed between MARA and key industry partners, including Volvo, Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas), YTL Technologies Sdn Bhd, the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MArii), Mannol, and Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) at MATEC 2025.

This year's event shows a significant surge in confidence compared to MATEC 2024, which recorded 26,550 visitors and RM16.6 million in sales.

For the 2025 edition, the expected daily visitors are 25,710 on the first day, 35,300 on the second day, and 43,630 on the third day — leading to an overall target of more than 104,100 visitors with potential sales transactions of RM50 million.
