Thai Foreign Minister To Visit Singapore To Mark 60 Years Of Diplomatic Ties

BANGKOK, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow will undertake an official visit to Singapore from Oct 21 to Oct 22 to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

According to the Thai Foreign Ministry (MFA), Sihasak will hold a bilateral meeting with his Singaporean counterpart, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during the visit.

"These meetings will focus on ways to advance cooperation between Thailand and Singapore in all dimensions, especially in trade and investment cooperation in high-value sectors and future industries," the MFA said in a statement on Tuesday.

The MFA said both sides are also expected to discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Sihasak is also scheduled to meet with representatives from Singapore’s private sector to encourage greater investment from Singapore in Thailand.

In addition, the MFA said the Thai Foreign Minister and his Singaporean counterpart will jointly preside over the 15th Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP).

It said the 15th edition of the CSEP will be held under the theme “Partners in Progress, Shaping a Green and Digital Future,” underscoring both nations’ commitment to a forward-looking partnership and cooperation in emerging sectors.

Initiated in 1997, the CSEP is a key bilateral framework under the Singapore-Thailand Enhanced Partnership (STEP), serving as a platform for civil servants from both countries to share best practices and strengthen collaboration on projects of mutual interest.
