1.JAKARTA WEIGHS TIGHTER SCRAP STEEL IMPORTS AFTER BANTEN RADIOACTIVE LEAK -- JAKARTA GLOBE

The Environment Ministry has signaled tighter restrictions on scrap metal imports after radioactive cesium-137 contamination was detected at an industrial site in Cikande, Banten.

 

2.PRABOWO IN HOT SEAT TO CARRY OUT POLICE REFORM -- THE JAKARTA POST

Calls are growing for President Prabowo Subianto to take concrete steps toward sweeping reform within the National Police, with analysts warning that success will hinge on his willingness to address entrenched problems in one of the country’s most powerful institutions.

 

 

MYANMAR 

 

1.RICE EXPORTS GENERATE RM1.7 BILLION -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Myanmar has earned RM1.7 billion (US$408 million) from exporting over 1.2 million tonnes of rice since April 1. The Agriculture Ministry and rice producers are working towards achieving three million tonnes of rice exports by April next year.  

 

2.OVERFLOWING DAM THREATENS VILLAGES -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The overflowing Kyetmauktaung Dam has caused flooding in Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay. Excess water from the dam, due to heavy rainfall, has inundated roads and residents are on high alert.

1.SIGNAL NO. 1 STILL UP OVER SEVERAL AREAS AS PAOLO EXITS PAR

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over several areas as Severe Tropical Storm Paolo exits the Philippine area of Responsibility, the Philippines’ weather bureau said Saturday.

 

2.TWO-DAY SHABU HAUL IN PANGASINAN ESTIMATED AT PHP6.8 BILLION

Joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) accomplished another big-time shabu haul in Pangasinan Province, the Philippines, on Friday night.

 

SINGAPORE

 

1.NO MRT SERVICE FROM BEDOK TO TAMPINES, TANAH MERAH TO EXPO BETWEEN NOV 29 AND DEC 8 FOR TRACK WORKS -- THE STRAITS TIMES

Train services on the East-West Line (EWL) will not run between Bedok and Tampines stations for 10 days from Nov 29 to Dec 8. There will also be no service between Tanah Merah and Expo stations during that period.

 

2.BANKS MAY HOLD, REJECT SOME TRANSFERS IF MORE THAN HALF OF AN ACCOUNT'S BALANCE IS MOVED OUT -- CNA

From Oct 15, banks may hold or reject transfers from accounts with balances of at least S$50,000 (US$38,800) if withdrawals over 24 hours amount to more than half of the total fund.

Lt Gen Boonsin Padklang named adviser to Thai Army Commander-in-Chief to provide strategic and national defence guidance.

 

2. PM PLEDGES SUSTAINABILITY -- BANGKOK POST

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has declared sustainability will be the new cornerstone of Thailand's economic strategy and emphasised the need to build resilient foundations in industry, trade and investment to navigate global volatility.

1.LAM DONG BALLOON FESTIVAL TO WOO TOURISTS - - VIETNAMPLUS

The Lam Dong Balloon and Art Festival 2025 is being organised to promote tourism and cultural activities. Lam Dong province will host the large-scale festival from October 24-26 at the Da Lat Opera House.

 

2.HANOI’S NEW METRO LINE CONSTRUCTION IN OCTOBER - - VIETNAM NEWS 

The construction of Line 2.1 linking Nam Thang Long–Tran Hung Dao, the first of the five lines of Hanoi’s Metro Line 2, will begin next Thursday. The construction will cost nearly RM5.5 billion (US$1.3 billion.)
