KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation’s (MDEC) 2025 edition of DEX CONNEX has secured more than RM1 billion in estimated digital export opportunities, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as ASEAN’s leading digital hub.
The initiative, held under MDEC’s Gateway, Amplify, Invest and Nurture (GAIN) programme, connected 217 Malaysian technology companies with partners in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
“A total of 55 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and memoranda of agreement (MOAs) were exchanged with 219 partners across the region. These agreements spanned strategic sectors including artificial intelligence (AI), cloud services, digital platforms, smart city solutions, cybersecurity, fintech, data centres and agritech,” MDEC said in a statement today.
Chief executive officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil said the DEX CONNEX is a platform that strengthens regional digital ecosystems and supports greater collaboration across ASEAN. “By connecting technology companies with global markets, we are creating high-value opportunities that empower businesses, nurture talent, and position Malaysia as a leading digital ecosystem,” he said.
In Indonesia, 26 MOUs were signed involving 83 Malaysian companies with collaborations in AI, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure.
In the Philippines, 49 Malaysian companies partnered with 43 Filipino firms, exchanging 14 MOUs, including a landmark agreement with Data Centre Incorporated to accelerate digital innovation.
In Thailand, 52 Malaysian companies engaged with 52 Thai counterparts, resulting in 11 MOUs, including the renewal of MDEC’s MOU with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), first signed in 2023, to strengthen joint initiatives and digital knowledge exchange.
The series concluded in Vietnam with 33 Malaysian firms and 45 Vietnamese partners, resulting in four MOUs, including collaborations involving IX Telecom with Netnam Corporation and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, Entomal Biotech with Wesco Company Ltd, and Eco Community with eCommunity Vietnam.
