NILAI, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Rahmah Sale Programme (PJRM) took centre stage on the opening day of the Negeri Sembilan edition of MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025, with members of the public seizing the opportunity to purchase essential goods at prices below the market rate.
Taxi driver A. Sridaran, 66, from Taman Desa Indah, said he was eagerly anticipating the programme as it allowed him to purchase essentials at lower prices, helping him save for his family’s needs.
“I always look forward to this Rahmah Sales because I can buy items at affordable prices. Today, I purchased things like diapers for my grandchildren, eggs, and biscuits - all for only RM70, whereas outside, the same items would cost more than RM100,” he said.
“I will go back and tell my wife later. Maybe I will come again to buy more items, as I can see a variety of goods at reasonable prices. I am glad a programme like this is being implemented so that the less fortunate can save money,” she told Bernama today.
Juliana Razali, 38, who is self-employed, said that besides the affordable prices, the programme’s location near public hotspots makes it easier for people to purchase daily necessities without having to travel far.
“I found out about today’s Rahmah Sales from a WhatsApp group, so I decided to come. I bought various basic necessities such as cooking oil, biscuits, and coconut milk, with prices 20 to 30 per cent cheaper than usual,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Negeri Sembilan branch’s PJRM officer Fatin Athirah Shahrul Nazmi said consumers were offered 56 types of essential goods at affordable prices during the three-day PMR, in an effort to ease the burden of living costs.
“The response today has been very encouraging, with people coming non-stop since this morning. I expect that after Friday prayers, even more people will attend,” she added.
“Today, we have also opened an eCOSS (Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme) counter to make it easier for people to register and purchase subsidised cooking oil through the application. Apart from PJRM, we also plan to expand its use to other premises,” she said.
Among the items offered at the programme are 10 kg of local rice at RM26 per pack, 2 kg of bottled cooking oil at RM9.50, grade C eggs at RM7.50 per pack, and 1 kg of wheat flour at RM2.30.
The Negeri Sembilan PMR is being held for three days, starting today, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim scheduled to officiate the programme tomorrow.
