KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- Boulder Imaging, a technology firm specialising in wildlife protection systems for the wind energy sector, has announced a strategic partnership with Aerovantage, the official distributor of IdentiFlight in Chile, to expand its global reach and enhance wildlife conservation amid Chile's renewable energy growth.

Under the agreement, Aerovantage will spearhead Boulder Imaging’s deployments of IdentiFlight across Chile’s wind farms, combining advanced artificial intelligence with optical sensing to detect and protect sensitive bird species, including the Andean condor and the Chilean flamingo.

Boulder Imaging Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Technology Officer, Carlos Jorquera said the partnership is both professional and personal.

“As someone with deep ties to Chile, this partnership carries special meaning for me. It is especially meaningful to see our technology contribute to the advancement of renewable energy and the protection of biodiversity in this region,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Aerovantage President, Ricardo Jorquera said this partnership ensures that wind energy expansion aligns with environmental preservation.

“Chile’s commitment to renewable energy must go hand in hand with protecting its rich biodiversity,” he added.

The partnership aligns with a growing international trend of incorporating automated wildlife monitoring into infrastructure projects, balancing renewable energy development with ecological responsibility.

Developed by Boulder Imaging, the IdentiFlight system, which has demonstrated the ability to reduce bird fatalities by more than 85 per cent in deployments across 12 countries, automatically identifies avian species and initiates wind turbine shutdowns when a collision risk is detected.

The technology currently recognises over 100 bird species and is expected to incorporate 30 additional species native to South America by the end of the year. The first IdentiFlight station in Chile is scheduled for installation in 2025.
