Part-time Media Practitioners Urged To Contribute To Perkeso’s SKSPS

BATU GAJAH, June 24 (Bernama) -- The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has urged part-time media practitioners to contribute to the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS), which offers 24-hour protection while they carry out their duties.

Perkeso Strategic Communications, Branding and Editorial Branch chief Tengku Datuk Khalidah Tengku Bidin said part-time media practitioners were among those frequently exposed to various risks.

“We are calling on these media practitioners to make contributions, as we are assisting members of this group in need almost every week.

“The SKSPS scheme offered by Perkeso is suitable for media practitioners, as they spend much of their time working outside the office and on the move, exposing them to higher security risks,” she said.

She said this after presenting contributions under the Ziarah Kasih Perkeso initiative to Bernama stringer Razif Rosli, 41, who is suffering from a right knee meniscus injury and kidney complications, at his home here today.

Tengku Khalidah also handed over contributions to The China Press photographer Wong Jin Sum, 53, who suffered a mild stroke, and Malaysian Nanban journalist S. Balakrishnan, 64, who is battling diabetes and high blood pressure, at their respective homes in Ipoh.

According to her, the scheme provided compensation to contributors who became permanently disabled and financial benefits to their next of kin in the event of their death.

“The scheme is open to all media personnel regardless of age. Even those who have passed the retirement age (60 years) can still contribute and benefit from it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Razif said he would use the contribution from Perkeso to purchase medical equipment for the illness he had been suffering from since 2021.

The father of two said his condition was gradually improving but still required regular medical treatment.

“Alhamdulillah, the financial aid, food boxes and other forms of assistance have given me greater encouragement and hope to recover,” he said.
