MAKKAH, June 9 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) was honoured last night with the prestigious Labaytum Diamond Award by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, recognising it as the world’s best Hajj management agency.
This marks the first time TH has received the distinguished ‘Diamond Award’ accolade.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said Malaysia’s success in maintaining excellence in hajj management for four consecutive years was due to the tireless efforts of TH staff, particularly hajj officers and maktab representatives who consistently provided dedicated support to pilgrims.
He extended his highest congratulations to TH Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain, Chief Executive Officer Mustakim Mohamad, and Malaysian Hajj Delegation Head Mohd Hisham Harun for their outstanding leadership in managing this year’s hajj operations.
“TH and the Malaysian government have been awarded the Labaytum Award for the fourth consecutive year. Alhamdulillah, even more remarkably, we received the highest honour, the Diamond Award, tonight.
“The evaluation process conducted by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is meticulous and rigorous, covering various aspects, including management, pilgrim welfare, and safety throughout the hajj period,” he said.
Mohd Na’im was speaking to the media after the closing ceremony of the 1446H Hajj Season organised by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah here last night.
He said the recognition would further motivate TH to enhance service quality and improve hajj management.
“We (TH) will not stop here. Insya-Allah, TH will conduct a post-mortem session to identify any shortcomings and collaborate with Al-Masyariq (company tasked with providing essential facilities and services for Malaysian pilgrims) to further strengthen pilgrim welfare and comfort for the upcoming haj season,” he added.
Mohd Na’im also noted that the leases for two existing pilgrim accommodation buildings are set to expire this year, and discussions will be held with the building owners to assess their suitability in terms of location and facilities.
At the same time, he expressed appreciation to media practitioners for their vital role in disseminating information to the public and helping evaluate TH’s performance through news reports.
The Labaytum Award is an annual recognition given to Hajj management organisations worldwide that demonstrate outstanding performance in hajj operations by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
