ARAFAT (Saudi Arabia), June 05 (Bernama-SPA) -- Imam and Preacher of the Grand Mosque Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid emphasised that the Day of Arafah is a significant occasion when Muslims come together in unity, reflecting the true essence of faith.
He highlighted the core principles of Islam, its foundational elements, and the qualities that represent sincere devotion to Allah, during the Arafah sermon, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
He urged pilgrims to increase their praise of Allah and engage in prayer on this day, which is known for being a time when prayers are answered and good deeds are multiplied.
In a separate report, SPA reported Jabal Al-Rahmah in Arafat on Thursday welcomed throngs of pilgrims who gathered from early morning, spreading across its slopes to pray and seek mercy and forgiveness.
This prominent landmark, located 17 kilometres from the Grand Mosque and rising about 65 metres high, holds deep religious significance as the place where Prophet Muhammad delivered his Farewell Sermon.
Reflecting the leadership's commitment to pilgrim welfare, new projects totaling 196,000 square metres have been implemented around Jabal Al-Rahmah to combat heat stress, according to the report.
These initiatives include 1,200 square metres of canopies equipped with 129 misting fans, moderating the atmosphere and reducing temperatures to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for pilgrims.
