90 GOLFERS TO TEE-OFF IN RSGC-SPORTEXCEL JUNIOR EVENT
KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 (Bernama) -- Around 90 talented young golfers are expected to tee-off in the ninth RSGC-SportExcel Junior Invitational Golf Championship from May 14-16 at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC), here.
Organising chairman Ezani Abu Bakar said, 65 players, mainly from Malaysia, as well as Indonesia, Singapore, India, South Korea, Australia and Britain had registered for the country’s premier junior event.
“We expect more players to register in the coming weeks, especially from the countries like Thailand and Indo-China region. This championship also serves as counting event in the World Amatuer Golf Ranking (WAGR), underscoring its significance in the global golfing community,” he said in the press conference, today.
Among others, the field would witness the challenge from 19 players of the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) Junior Development Programme, while invitations were also extended to SportExcel elite players, state and club champions, and regional top players.
The tournament comprises four categories, from 16 to 18 years, as well as 15 and below for both boys’ and girls’.
The best finishing Malaysian boy and girl will qualify to play in a regional junior competition in Southeast Asia, with cost for internal transfer, accommodation and return flight ticket covered by the organiser.
The registration fee is set at RM420 for Malaysians, and USD130 or RM620 for non-Malaysians.
