State Govt Targets 2,000 Sme Entrepreneurs To Register With S.m.a.r.t. Niaga@perak

IPOH, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- The Perak government is targeting 2,000 small and medium enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs in the state to register under the S.M.A.R.T. Niaga@Perak application by the end of next year.

State Communications, Multimedia and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi said the target is achievable as the state government and its related agencies will provide various interests and benefits, including funding.

"For now, 100 SME entrepreneurs have registered under the e-commerce platform since Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad launched it on Nov 17.

"I welcome more entrepreneurs under this platform, which is not just free (registration) but also provides various forms of assistance, including funding,” he said.

He said this at a media conference after representing Saarani to officiate the launch of the 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Perak Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DPPM) here today.

On Nov 17, the media reported that Saarani was optimistic that the usage of the e-commerce platform, which is managed through the collaboration of Digital Perak and Nityo Infotech, could propel the income of SME entrepreneurs to a higher level and give them the potential to penetrate the international market.

He also said that the initiative would accelerate Perak's preparedness to adapt technology that encourages the growth of innovations.

In addition, Mohd Azlan said he would publicise the platform on social media to ensure information and details about the platform are understood and reach the targeted groups.

"We will soon draft the framework to increase information regarding this e-commerce platform on the X, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram applications and so on. Our aim to to raise awareness and, at the same time, achieve our target (of 2,000 entrepreneurs),” he said.
