KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Hager Malaysia, a subsidiary of Hager Group, has accomplished one of the sustainability targets for the year by organising a ZERO Trash Campaign in alignment with the group’s sustainability plan, Blue Planet Commitment.
In a statement, Hager Malaysia said this environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiative was carried out by six of its employees resulting in collecting five kilogrammes of litter in Bukit Gasing, Selangor.
“With unwavering dedication, this initiative stands as a testament to our resolute commitment to achieving the ambitious Hager’s Group Project 2030 target.
“Aligned seamlessly with Hager's visionary pursuit to shape the forthcoming landscape of the electrical realm, we illuminate a sustainable path, where each operation resonates with the heartbeat of our planet,” said Hager Malaysia Managing Director, Joyce Yee.
Yee added the company is devoted to wildlife safety and crafting sustainable solutions through pioneering recycling for a real change and committed to a multi-pronged strategy by reducing virgin plastic usage at the source, designing more eco-friendly products and packaging, and optimising its factories with low carbon development.
In addition to the campaign, Hager Malaysia has invested in an environmentally friendly approach to ensure the longevity and quality of its products.
The company has introduced more sustainable solutions in production and distribution, putting the entire process, from sourcing materials to end-of-product-life, under intense scrutiny to minimise its environmental impact, including carbon dioxide (C02) emissions.
Bukit Gasing hiking trails, a tropical forest reserve in Selangor, Malaysia, was chosen for the campaign due to the location's history of litter accumulation, fuelling Hager Malaysia to act towards combating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emission by cleaning-up the hiking trails and forest.
