KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Canselor Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) (YCU) collected a contribution of RM600,000 through its 2023 YCU Charity Golf Championship at the Amverton Cove Golf and Island Resort, Pulau Carey, Selangor on Saturday (July 15).

UNITEN vice-chancellor Prof Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman said the collection would be used to assist outstanding underprivileged students to pursue further studies in universities.

He said 140 participants from 31 companies took part in the charity golf tournament organised by YCU and Allo Technology Sdn Bhd.

“The organisation of this kind of smart partnership has a more stimulating impact, with the total amount collected higher compared to previous championships,” he said in a statement today, adding that they last held a similar charity golf tournament in 2019.

Meanwhile, UNITEN Chancellor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, who is also the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang, presented the prizes and contributions.

Others who took part in the championship were Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) secretary-general Datuk Rosli Isa, UNITEN Pro-Chancellor Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali and Tenaga Nasional Berhad chief information officer Azlan Ahmad.
