ATLAS Vending launches NFTs

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) – In conjunction with the 59th Anniversary of Malaysia Day, ATLAS Vending has launched the first-of-its-kind non-fungible token or NFT vending machine as a platform for 13 local NFT artists to showcase and sell their unique artworks that incorporate local art and culture for only RM59 each through cashless payments.

Its Marketing & Ancillary Sales Senior Manager, Kalithasan Sothinathan said, 13 prominently branded vending machines each represented by an artist with their artworks were placed in REXKL starting Sept 16 until Dec 16. 

Kalithasan shared, after the success of the Sapot SME campaign last year that was initiated to help SMEs recover, ATLAS is now aiming to generate the economy through art and culture by creating a platform that will uplift Malaysian artists to make their distinctive artwork more accessible and giving them the recognition they deserve.

“NFTs have surged in popularity in recent years and have completely revolutionised the blockchain sector. Hence, we wanted to bring all 13 local NFT artists together to appreciate their work and draw Malaysians' attention to the NFTs,” he said after the launch here, yesterday.

He added, the initiative also aims to elevate local artists through a profit-sharing model in which the total sales generated by these NFTs will be shared among all artists involved in this project. 

“Our initiative stands as a testimony that we're capable of going beyond the ordinary and ATLAS’s flexibility allows everyone to have an enjoyable shopping experience as we’re constantly evolving to cater to our customer's unique needs,” said Kalithasan. 

Meanwhile, artist Haizeel Hashnan or known as Palempunk said, he used the theme of comedy as inspiration for his NFT artwork representing the state of Penang. 

“NFTs for ATLAS Vending is very different because it highlights local culture and fans can understand each of these artworks because it is closely related to daily life and the uniqueness of each state,” he said. 

Those who purchase these NFTs will have the chance to win some exciting rewards from a pool of 59 prizes that will be distributed randomly, including 13 Nintendo Switch and 46 small ticket prizes of limited-edition merchandise. 

All winners will be announced on Dec 9, 2022 at REXKL during ATLAS' giveaway ceremony, which will be joined by the NFT artists.
