KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 -- The University Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering (UNIMY), through its centre of excellence for robotics and automation (UNIMYRACE) has collaborated with the Malaysia Robotics and Automation Society (MyRAS) to host a virtual networking session between the Perak Foundry and Engineering Industries Association (PFEIA) and six South Korean automation manufacturers from Gyeongnam Techno Park (GNTP).

MyRAS president Assoc-Prof Ishkandar Baharin said the objective of the event was to promote Malaysia as a destination for South Korean small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to venture into the Malaysian market.

“The industrial sectors that were of interest include Robotics, Automation and IR4.0 businesses in Malaysia. Through the virtual webinar, MyRAS and UNIMYRACE was able to highlight Malaysia as the gateway for cross border collaboration in robotics and automation between South Korea and Malaysia.

“The indirect impact of this event will be business matching agreements between Malaysia and South Korea to help promote bilateral trade between both countries,” he said in a statement today.

UNIMY lecturer specialising in robotics and UNIMYRACE committee member Dr Syahril Anuar Idris said UNIMY teamed up with MyRAS to be an academic and training partner in the establishment of UNIMYRACE.

“This is in line with UNIMY’s strategic academic direction to ensure students are equipped with what the industry needs. UNIMYRACE will become a reference expert for industrial companies where it will assist to expand and strengthen collaboration between UNIMY and MyRAS including its industrial partners in training programmes and research activities.

“This includes promoting and providing trainers for the Professional Certification Program in Smart Manufacturing and IR4.0 whereby UNIMY will collaborate with MyRAS and industrial partners to promote and conduct the certification programme through UNIMYRACE,” he said.

He said this collaboration will expose UNIMY students with relevant industrial projects, increasing their employability in line with our aspiration to Create a Digital Nation.
