SHAH ALAM, Dec 6  -- An accountancy student in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has scored 100 per cent in the ‘Recording Financial Transactions’ (FA1) paper, qualifying him for recognition both in Malaysia and worldwide by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants  (ACCA), United Kingdom.

Hakeem Mohammad Akmal, 18, from the university’s Faculty of Accountancy obtained the perfect score in the examination for the July to December professional accountancy programme.

“UiTM is very proud of Hakeem’s achievement. His success shows that with determination and hard work, as well as support from the university, Malaysians can attain global recognition,” vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Ir Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim  said in a statement here today.

According to Mohd Azraai, Hakeem joined the  ‘Certified Accounting Technician’ (CAT) professional accountancy programme in July after obtaining 9As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

He said the former student of Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gombak obtained the perfect score in the FA1 despite not have any basic knowledge in accountancy.

He hopes to further his studies in ACCA after completing the CAT programme and pursue a career in the field of taxation.
